Acupuncture

Whether you’re new to acupuncture
or have years of experience we are here to help.

Acupuncture is a several thousand-year-old medical treatment that spans across many Asian nations. It is a painless tool that helps to stimulate the body's own natural healing resources.

Your condition will determine how many pins are needed to help you feel better. Our practitioners do their best to choose powerhouse points that will treat more than one symptom at a time, which will require fewer pins in your body. It’s common for the practitioners at Empire Wellness Center to use anywhere from 4-20 pins per treatment.

Acupuncture uses very thin, fine, short needles that are not hollow in the center. These “needles” are unlike what we commonly think of when taking blood or getting shots. At Empire Wellness Center, we lovingly call them “pins” instead of needles because they are more like a sewing pin…but even smaller. At Empire Wellness Center, we only use the highest quality acupuncture needles, which are individually inspected under a microscope before sterilization and packaged for use. In line with California acupuncture laws, all needles are sterile, single-use needles, which means that they are immediately disposed of properly and NEVER used again to prevent disease and cross-contamination.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, nearly 400 acupuncture points are known and utilized regularly. The practitioners at Empire Wellness Center have also studied and use other methods that add up to 700 extra points to their toolbox. Acupuncture points are found all over the body: front, back, upper, lower, arms, legs, head, stomach, and even ears. Some of the points used during your treatment may not make much sense but rest assured that your acupuncturist is well trained and knows what they are doing. Feel free to ask your practitioner why they chose that point and what it does. We are happy to make this hard-to-understand medicine make sense to everyone.

AcuGraph

AcuGraph is a tool that has been around for nearly 20 years and uses a 60-year-old method for gathering energetic information from the body. AcuGraph then organizes the energetic information into easy to grasp graphs for the practitioner as well as the patient.

Once the patient is assessed with the AcuGraph and other assessment methods, tiny pins (typically 0.16 of a millimeter) are gently inserted into 4-20 acupuncture points to help restore balance to the body. The patient gets to enjoy 30 minutes of relaxation while the pins do their work.

One of the things that sets Empire Wellness Center apart is our use of the AcuGraph system at each
acupuncture session.
